Educational Alternatives is a newly formed non-profit organization whose purpose is to offer learning opportunities to people around the world. This is a broad focus. The initial focus will center around providing learning opportunities to students. The name of this site – Beyond the Classroom – is symbolic of the type of learning experiences the organization wishes to offer.

The Founder of the organization has been a teacher for 34 years, has taught in five states and three foreign countries. She currently teaches in Georgia, U.S.A. She has traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, parts of Europe, and islands in the Pacific. Over the years she has observed a lack of creative venues through which motivated students can pursue their quests for knowledge. To this end, she created an organization with the hope that one day it may fuel the dreams that otherwise would smolder and die…unfulfilled.

As she traveled, the Founder visited schools and engaged in conversations with educators, parents, and students to learn of their needs and dreams. From these conversations, meetings, and requests the following goals emerged:

  • Providing computers to a school in Ubud, Bali.
  • Providing transportation and living expenses for a Vietnamese collage art student to study art in America.
  • Providing supplementary educational field trips to educationally impoverished students in the Southern United States.

Input is needed from people who share the Founder’s belief. Please use the Feedback page to express your feelings about this organization and to provide suggestions and advice.

Currently, the organization is without funds. It is in need of persons with grant writing expertise to offer to write grants for funding. It is in need of people to solicit funds from foundations and philanthropic groups. The organization needs “people power”.

Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to get involved.
